For more than two thousand years, glosses have offered readers explanations to texts, contextualization, added meanings, or simply marginal notes. Although at the literal margin of texts, glosses should not be considered only as ancillary material but rather as continuations of the texts they explicit.
This series of conferences aims to put into perspective the interactions between texts, glosses, and their readers, and provide insight into the articulation between textual explanation and exegesis.
